Laura Lynn MacDonald’s original plays and adaptations have been produced in Chicago, Milwaukee, New York and Norway.  She is an award winning filmmaker and screenwriter.  Her most recent film, Mattress World, won Best Family Short at the 2010 Illinois International Film Festival and was featured at the 2011 LA Women’s International Film Festival.  


Laura Lynn has written the book for musical about the Irish gangster who started The Cotton Club and  is currently working on her first television script: Saint George Graphic.


Laura Lynn teaches playwriting with Ensemble Free Theater Norway and serves as the Literary Advisor and Dramaturg for UPROOTED Theatre Company in Milwaukee.  She’s a founding member of Gorilla Rep in NYC.

Laura Lynn’s adaptation of Chekhov’s UNCLE VANYA was presented in a workshop production at TITAN Teatergruppe, under the direction of Christopher Carter Sanderson: Oslo, Norway, May 2010.

UPROOTED Theatre Company has commissioned Laura Lynn MacDonald and Marti Gobel to adapt Mark Twain’s: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as a one-man show from Jim’s perspective.  THROUGH THE EYES OF JIM, will be performed as part of UPROOTED’s 2012 educational programming.

 

Kentucky Repertory Theatre will present a full theatrical environmental installation of Laura Lynn’s adaptation of PEER GYNT (Jan. 2012), directed by Christopher Carter Sanderson with performance sculptures by New York artist Benjamin Heller.

UPROOTED Theatre Company has been awarded the 2011-12 Artists Residency at Lincoln Elementary School in Wauwatosa, WI. 

Residency dates will be Nov. 14-18, 2011.

Ensemble Free Theater Norway

Laura Lynn taught playwriting and dramaturged new works for EFTN’s 2011 Autumn residency at The Greenhouse Theatre Center in Chicago, under the direction of Brendan McCall.

UPROOTED Theatre Company was proud to join Project 1 Voice for the national reading of Alice Childress’ ground breaking play: TROUBLE IN MIND, at Ten Chimney’s Estate on June 20th, 2011.
